This community, located on the
Historic Columbia River Highway between the
Sandy River and Crown Point, was named after
Senator Henry Winslow Corbett. Mr. Corbett
owned a farm nearby and was one of Oregon's
prominent pioneer citizens and for many years
lived in Portland.
There was also a station named Corbett on
the Union Pacific Railroad at the base of
the bluff below the community. The station
is gone but there is a road that leaves I-84
at exit 22 and climbs the hill to connect
to the historic highway. Corbett's post office
was established Dec. 20, 1895, with William
H.H. Reed first postmaster.
Do
you have photos or something to add to Corbett's
History Page? Are you a long time resident
and would like to post a letter about the
coldest winter you remember? If you would
like to submit something to be posted on this
site - please contact
us and let us know.
